Frank Marino's Divas

When we were in Vegas this time we saw two shows.
We took Aunt Bell and Ashley to see Frank Marino's Divas. It was a great show.
The impersonators really looked like the performers, like Cher, Madonna & Celine Dion. If you are in Vegas, this would be a show to go and see.

Recycled Percussion

THIS SHOW ROCKS!

This is one of the best Vegas shows we have ever gone and seen. It was kind of like the show STOMP but we got pots and pans and got to use drum sticks. A total blast and rocks.

The show starts with these guys hanging on the wall beating on drum sets and only gets more wild and crazy from there.

Go see this show it's awesome.

Voca People

Tonight we headed to the Wortham Center to see the Voca People. they are a group performing vocal theater combining a cappella and beat box vocals to reproduce the sounds of an entire orchestra.

My mom always has great places to go and things to do. She is right about what shows, concerts and plays that I will like. Voca People rocked and I would go see other groups like them too.

Afterwards we went to the Aquarium for a late dinner. It was a fun night and I am happy I went. When we are in Vegas in June my mom is going to take me to see Blue Man Group.

Valentines Day 2013

Tonight I took my mom out to eat at the Lasagna House, which is one of her fave places to go because the owners are fron back home. Then we went to the Wortham Center to see Ms Anna Maria Martinez preform. I didn't think it was going to be all that fun but that woman can really really sing. My mom was right it was nice to go. After the concert we walked to the Aquarium for some chocolate cake.
I also gave my mom a huge card telling her that she is a great mom and that I love her. she got me some candy and a NERF gun.

Christmas 2012

We took a last minute trip to Chicago for Christmas. Me, mom and Robby who is a family friend from Chicago that now lives in Houston, drove to Chicago for Christmas. We left on Sunday after my mom got done with work and drove straight thru to Chicago. After we dropped Robby off at his daughters house we went to Pop's, picked up lunch and then went to my grandma and grandpas house.
I am lucky that Santa knew I was going to be at my grandparents house for Christmas this year. I don't know how he knew because it was a last minute trip, but I guess he knows everything about everyone. I got a ton of NERF guns and a ton of Lego sets and a bunch of clothes. I also got a ninja sword from my aunt Jamie. My Aunt Bell also gave me my grandma R's BB gun and a bunch of camo and army stuff. I love going home because my family loves me so much and always gives me cool stuff. My Aunt Debbie and Uncle Tom got me a memory game pad, my Aunt Betty got me a tackel box for fishing.

Letters to Santa

When we were shopping at Macy's in the Galleria we stopped at Macy's and I sent a letter to Santa.

I don't know if I will be getting anything because I haven't been all that good this year, but I still asked for a few things.

Halloween 2012

I was a Ninja Boy for Halloween this year!

Since we went to Chicago for my birthday and spent several days up there we didn't get a pumpkin till we got back and just like my mom said, I would get a big one to carve all by myself. I had to carve it on the barthroom floor because I couldn't reach the bottom to scrape and clean it out. But it all worked out great and it looked good when I was done.

Didn't get much candy in the neighborhood we leave in. So we hit the next subdivision and did very well. My mom only got one trick-or-treater and it was me and there is a lot of candy left over so I hit the jack pot this year.

Cave without a Name

When we were in NB for the WurstFest we went to Cave without a Name. Both my mom and I agreed that this was the best cave that we have been to in Texas. If you are ever in the area and have a chance to go, please do. You won't be sorry. It's better then Natural Bridge Caverns by far.

Wurstfest

This year we had a blast at Wurstfest. I met a Kaycee while fishing and we meet up at the fest for 3 nights in a row. We rode the carnival rides (my mom knows the owner and her friend Robby works for him) and played games.

KC and I also floated the river and went fishing a lot. She is homeschooled too and lives here in Texas. We exchanged addresses and emails and will become pen pals.

Christopher Columbus: Nina & Pinta

The original Niña, Pinta, and Santa Maria used by Christopher Columbus on his first voyage across the Atlantic were common trading vessels. The Santa Maria which Columbus never liked, ran aground and sank on Christmas Eve 1492 in Hispaniola (now Cap Haitien). She was a Nao, a type of cargo vessel.
The Niña and Pinta were Caravels which were used by explorers during the Age of Discovery. The Pinta returned home and disappeared from History without a trace, but the Niña, now there's a woman with a past.
The Niña was Columbus' favorite and for good reason. She was named Santa Clara after the patron saint of Moguer. A Spanish vessel in those days had an official religious name but was generally known by nickname, which might be a feminine form of her masters patronmyic, or of her home port. Santa Clara was always Niña, after her master-owner Juan Nino of Moguer. Vincente Yanez was her Captain on Columbus' First Voyage, and he later discovered the Amazon on an independent voyage. Built in the Ribera de Moguer, an estuary, now silted up, of the Rio Tinto, Niña made the entire First Voyage, bringing Columbus safely home. She accompanied the grand fleet of the Second Voyage to Hispaniola and Columbus selected her out of seventeen ships for his flagship on an exploratory voyage to Cuba, and purchased a half share in her. She was
the only vessel in West Indian waters to survive the hurricane of 1495, and then brought back the Admiral and 120 passengers to Spain in 1496. She was then chartered for an unauthorized voyage to Rome, and was captured by a corsair when leaving the port of Cagliari, and brought to an anchor at Cape Pula, Sardinia where she was stripped of her arms and crew. The Captain, Alonso Medel, escaped with a few men, stole a boat, rowed back to Niña, cut her cables and made
sail. She returned to Cadiz in time to sail for Hispaniola early in 1498, as advance guard of Columbus' Third Voyage. She was lying in Santo Domingo in 1500, and we last heard of her making a trading voyage to the Pearl Coast in 1501. The Niña logged at least 25,000 miles under Columbus' command.
In 1988, an American engineer and maritime historian, John Patrick Sarsfield, began building
what was to become the first truly, historically correct replica of a 15th Century Caravel. John had discovered a group of master shipbuilders in Bahia, Brazil who were still using design and construction techniques dating back to the 15th Century.
It was in Valenca, Brazil, using only adzes, axes, hand saws, and chisels, in additiion to naturally-shaped timbers from the local forest, that the Sarsfield Niña was built.
Jonathan Nance, a British maritime historian and main researcher for the project produced
a sail plan for the ship, which represents the Niña as she would have appeared during the eight recorded busy years of her life following her departure from the Canary Islands in September 1492.
In December 1991, the Niña left Brazil and sailed to Costa Rica on a 4000 mile unescorted maiden voyage to take part in the filming of 1492. Since then, the ship has visited over 300 ports in the U.S. She is the only 'sailing museum' which is continually 'discovering' new ports, while giving the public an opportunity to visit one of the greatest little ships in the world's history.

Poker night for boxer rescue

Mom, Betsy and I went to the Lone Start Boxer Rescue fundraiser. I was going to play, but I met Chloe and we played and danced and ate rather then playing cards. So my mom had to sit down and play my seat. It was fun and I had a great time.
