Union Pacific Northern 844

This morning was a very rare occasion, the Northern U.P. 844 made a stop in Old Town Spring. The Northern U.P. 844 is the last steam locomotive built for Union Pacific Railroad.

This steam engine has run hundreds of thousands of miles as Union Pacific's ambassador of goodwill. It has made appearances at Expo '74 in Spokane, the 1981 opening of the California State Railroad Museum in Sacramento, the 1984 World's Fair in New Orleans and the 50th Anniversary Celebration of Los Angeles Union Station in 1989. It's nick named "Living Legend," the engine is and usually only does excursion runs for V.I.P.s

But I got to see it this morning, since we can't take a trip on this one we are going to take a trip on one next weekend. I am really excited and can't wait.
